May Missive

Dear Readers,

Greetings!

As the heat turns up and we all go looking for cooler spots, our summer issue comes to you on a slightly broader note. Our work has become increasingly collaborative in nature and as communication comes to the forefront in the 21st century through technology, we are engaged in a vast and varying discourse, which is a great adventure. We want to be at the cusp of this wave, to bring to people the opportunity to engage, accomplish and enjoy at many levels.

From our recent projects completed, we bring you an update on our work for STL, which involved website design, a highly tactile exhibit at the Auto Expo and a movie. This issue brings a special in-depth article on our design for Club of Mozambique, a site that caters primarily to business interests in Mozambique. In A Driving Force, I share my views about the changing face of branding in India and what it can achieve beyond commonly understood perceptions.

Our deep interest in public spaces, environments and social concerns are all wrapped up together in this newsletter to ask “What If?” The approach got us out of our safe zones to look at design from a people-centric perspective, from habits and needs to essential human concerns. Our team investigated the Delhi metro’s capacity to extend itself beyond a transportation service to become a space that educates and invigorates. We looked into the connections between art and public space as motivating behavior change in residential colonies of Delhi. We also take this opportunity to bring you a summary of our research paper on Branding for Universities – a wonderful way for how academic and learning centers can become inspiring for students in their formative years. The cherry on the top is a lovely heart-warming story of how designer Amitabh Pandey brought people intervention to control traffic outside a school in Patna using design strategy.

Thank you for reading – do share your views and ideas with us at Lopez Design!
