Accelerate progress, envision the future – Partners Forum 2014
With over 650 member organizations, Partner for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) aims at providing a healthy environment for women, newborn, children and adolescents where they will continue to thrive.
Having designed the previous two Partners Forums of PMNCH, Lopez Design was approached to design the identity and collaterals for their third forum in 2014. This Partners’ Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa brought together more than 800 global health professionals, policy makers, business leaders, advocates and youth leaders. It was a unique opportunity to envisage the desired world of 2030 and accelerate the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations.
MDGs 4 and 5 aim at reducing child mortality and improving maternal health, thereby enabling women and children to realize their rights. As these goals are yet to be completely fulfilled, we decided to engage a wide audience with a positive and encouraging communication strategy.
Our solutions for the design were envisioned keeping in mind how achievements would be evaluated at the meeting, and the way forward intended to accelerate progress and partner for success.
Our approach was to create an action-oriented identity with the intent to motivate all partners. We incorporated the regional flavor of South Africa, drawing from the convention’s locale.
The dominant visual of the identity “mother and child” extrapolates from the pursuit of MDG 4 and 5 – reducing child mortality and improving maternal health. The happy mother and child visual celebrated the vision of the future propelling the program ahead with life and energy.
Our final deliverables included the main identity and visual language, branding standees, wall graphics and signage for various locations. We designed t-shirts, carry bags, folders, program booklets, notepads, pens, lanyards and memory sticks. The presentation template and animated identity for the stage was also specially created infusing the identity program.
The main challenge was in the actual execution of products, as we had to co-ordinate with printers and fabricators in Johannesburg to ensure that timely decisions were made to meet deadlines.
For this project Lopez Design’s team had Global Health Strategies as external partners for project management. The vendors involved in Event management were Tourvest Destination Management in Johannesburg. Black Pigeon did the co-ordination for print production in Johannesburg.
“Please accept our sincere thanks for the brilliant renderings. These animations will surely be a memorable part of the show, thanks to your talent and personal interest. Based on such exceptional branding, I think we are in for a major hit. As ever, we very much appreciate the collaboration and teamwork that has stood behind the many long hours it has taken to get to this point.”
