Born in Italy to an American stage actor and a persian architect, Jalan Sahba has staged for leading fashion houses and architectural studios while being associated with names like Karim Rashid. Jalan has led and spearheaded over thirty international award winning projects and her work has been published in over two dozen international design magazines.

Jalan’s website on her exotic hand bags needed to reflect her approach to her work and to let her work talk while everything else takes the backstage.

The fifteen-month long celebration of the Year of Germany in India highlights collaborative programmes and projects reflecting different facets of urban life and development such as mobility, architecture, energy planning, urban art and cultural infrastructure. Lopez Design is the online strategy partner for the venture, working on the website design and development via a custom CMS, and the social media strategy.

Building a strong brand for Hercules

HerWhile we were initially approached to create product graphics, their success in the market led to a larger engagement, involving brand strategy, retail environment design, and sub-brand identities. Today, we are the custodians for all brand-related initiatives at
TI Cycles.

Hercules is a popular bicycle brand targeted at teen and young adult males. It is from the stable of TI Cycles, part of the Murugappa Group. While we were initially approached to create product graphics, their success in the market led to a larger engagement, involving identity design, retail environment design, and sub-brand identities.

SterlingFabory Identity Programme

Brand Identity Programme

Dutch Fastener specialist Fabory has entered into a joint venture with Sterling Tools Limited, a manufacturer of high tensile cold forged fasteners for the Indian automotive industry. Sterling and Fabory will each hold a 50% stake in the joint venture. FABORY Group, founded in 1947, is an international group of leading technical business enterprises with more than 85 branches in 14 countries and a 1,700-strong team of fastener experts.  STL was established in 1979, and over the years, it has become one of the leading OEM suppliers in India with a client base that spans leading automotive companies in India, Europe and USA.

The identity for the JV brings together the elements from their respective individual symbols in a dynamic combination.

An existing reception which looked very dull and old-style is now revamped into a space which is welcoming and modern, yet not cold and unfriendly. The custom designed wooden furniture with the subtle, earthy fabrics, the white accents and the effect of light, both natural and white, add a touch of class and warmth.

USAID India website launched

Website Interface Design + Technical Development

USAID is the government agency providing US economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide and has been active in India for over 50 years. Working with the government, the private sector and other donors, USAID leverages approximately five dollars for every dollar of development assistance. Their areas of work include:  Clean Energy and Environment, Food Security, Agriculture and Nutrition, Maternal and child health, Nutrition and Urban Health, Reproductive health and family planning services, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, Improved access to clean energy and water, Justice and Governance, Education, Workforce Development, and Women’s Empowerment.

Lopez Design has done extensive work for the development and not-for-profit sector and was able to create the India website in alignment with their goals. The website was developed in strict compliance with the international branding guidelines.

DAAD stands for “Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst”, also known as German Academic Exchange Service. DAAD is a joint organisation of German institutions of higher education and student bodies. Their aim is to promote worldwide academic co-operation, especially through the exchange of students, scholars, academics, and scientists.

The DAAD India Newsletter has been designed and developed with a custom CMS that allows publication in both English and German versions.

Sify’s online makeover

As part of developing Sify’s Brand Identity Programme, we created templates and guidelines for the website templates, to enable Sify to align their plethora of web properties under a common umbrella. The system covered strategic identity and nomenclature revamps, image and typography guidelines, and iconography.

Sify Corp is one of India’s leading integrated Information Communications Technology companies. They helped define Internet and networking in India, pioneering services, infrastructure, processes and setting standards along the way. In the late 90s, Sify was India’s first private ISP with a dial up service, making Sify a household name and the kite identity ubiquitous.

Creating the PwC Experience across India

PwC wanted to deliver its corporate message in a manner that stays fresh day-after-day, in spite of repeated viewing. Staring with Gurgaon, we have created branded environments at Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Mumbai, with more to come. Working within the Brand Guidelines, we created unique interpretations of the corporate message for each facility. While each environment speaks the PwC language, it does so in a dialect that’s all its own.

Culture curry at the Ernst & Young offices

The theme for EY Environments is Inspirational People, and the
core concept – HEY! – was derived from an abbreviation of EY;
the idea being to surprise the viewer and open new windows in
the mind. The two series of graphics draw upon extensive research
to create a mash-up, including references from popular culture,
cinema, literature etc. The resultant graphics are multi-layered
pieces that one can spend hours with!

A merry mix with something for everyone – that’s the best way to sum up the trio of Environment Design projects done for EY. The projects became a reflection of the urban Indian mindset, with a mash-up of popular Indian culture and global references. The content research was possibly the best part of it, with some unexpected findings. For example, did you know that Tim Burton has a deep connection with our very own Aryabhatta!

Panchtantra, and the other one uses dance mudras, and both interpret Pragati’s values. Each sheet is a rich tapestry of images and typography, rendered with cutting-edge printing techniques, such as printing opaque offset white ink, overprinting on holographic film, foil stamping, and lenticular 3D effects
